Welcome to High Point, NC

High Point is a major player in the Furniture Industry, dubbed “The Furniture Capital of the World”. Building on its Furniture Market Niche, the Community Leaders are paving the way in revitalizing the city of High Point. An integral part of the Piedmont Triad area, a majority of its town lying in the Guilford County area sharing the county with Greensboro. The other counties sharing High Point’s footprint are Randolph County, Davidson County and Forsyth County. The Furniture Market isn’t the only thing High Point is famous for; High Point University sits center stage if you look at the map. HPU being a Private University has grown from its 1200 students less than 10 years ago to a now bustling 5000 students in 2019. Shaw University is also another higher education school in High Point offering African American students the ability to achieve their degrees from accredited programs in General Education, Graduate degrees and Athletics with the Shaw Bears. Originally located in Raleigh and founded by a Soldier in the Union Army of the Civil War by the name of Henry Martin Tupper. It was the first Historically Black Institution of higher education in the south. You’ll find that High Point also stands in two major watersheds; the Yadkin Pee-dee River and the Cape Fear River and parts of the city rise above 1000’ making it one of the highest places in the Piedmont Triad. The last known census in 2000 showed High Point residents totaled 85,839 people. The city continues to grow with leaps and bounds. The city’s plans to expand the downtown area shows the expectation of growth. Plans also are in effect for new restaurants and a new baseball stadium which is already open to the public. The $36m project is not completely finished, the Club Space behind the team dug-out has yet to see its debut, but Visionary Nido Qubein has imagined it ready to go. Downtown plans call for a dog-park, a hotel, a year-round playground, a children’s museum and an apartment building to be constructed around the ballpark, you can see their vision with Forward High Point being the front runner on the Downtown Revitalization plans.
