Home of the Alamance Battleground, Burlington sits in the middle of the Triad and Triangle areas off of Interstate 40. Rich in history, Burlington was born from the Railroad coming through the area. The people of the area did what they could to bring the railroad through, bringing people and industry from across the state. That type of positive economic thinking continues in the Burlington Community today. Burlington Leaders are working to improve their downtown area and bringing more to their people. In 2019 Burlington celebrates its 125 year anniversary since it was incorporated. The Higher Education offered in Burlington gives Students two options to choose from; Alamance Community College was founded in 1958 and offers students many programs from Advanced Applied Technology to Business and Health and Biotechnology. Then there’s Elon University which is a Private University founded in 1889 by the Christian Church and William S Long. Elon is one of only seven private universities in the nation with accredited schools of law, business, communications and education.
